NOTE:
This DRAFT introductory narrative is designed to set a high-stakes, vision-casting tone for the Acts Evangelism landing page. It establishes the "why" before diving into the "how," framing the Book of Acts not as a history book, but as a strategic manual for a world that has come full circle.
The Acts Hypothesis:
Strategic Evangelism for a Neo-Pagan World
The 21st-century Western church often finds itself paralyzed by a culture that no longer speaks its language. We have spent decades refining "seeker-sensitive" models and "invitational" programs designed for a biblically literate society that no longer exists. Today, we face a landscape that is increasingly secular, post-Christian, and—more accurately—Neo-Pagan. This is a world where objective truth is traded for "personal lived experience," where ancient superstitions are rebranded as "spirituality," and where institutional hostility toward the Name of Jesus is the new baseline.
However, this environment is not new. It is a mirror image of the 1st-century Mediterranean world.
The Acts Hypothesis is built on the conviction that the Book of Acts is the only sufficient strategic manual for evangelism in a Neo-Pagan culture. The Apostles did not begin their mission in a "Christian nation." They began in a high-voltage environment of religious legalism, Greek philosophy, and Roman polytheism. They didn't have social standing, political power, or a friendly audience. Yet, within a few decades, they "turned the world upside down" Acts 17:6.
They succeeded because they did not rely on human marketing or "softened" messages. They relied on a specific set of Apostolic Maneuvers—tactical responses to cultural pressure that were powered by the Holy Spirit and grounded in Historical Specificity. They understood how to identify a "Surface Request" and pivot to a "Sovereign Need." They knew how to deflect the "Hero Narrative" and anchor their audience in the "Objective Landmark" of the Resurrection. Most importantly, they operated under a Sovereign Strategy that prioritized the proclamation of Truth over the comfort of the proclaimer.
This section of the Acts 2020 Project is designed to recover these lost arts. We believe that by examining every instance of evangelism in Acts—from the Porticos of Jerusalem to the marketplaces of Athens—we find a repeatable, high-impact pattern for engagement. We are not interested in "tips and tricks"; we are interested in Cultural Discernment.
As you move through these lessons, you will find that we have stripped away the "soft" approach. You will be challenged to practice the Poverty Pivot, the Jurisdiction Defense, and the Prophetic Anchor. You will learn to navigate hostility not with defensiveness, but with Providential Endurance. This manual is your flight simulator. Here, you will practice the tactics of the Apostles so that when you step into your own "Sanhedrin" (i.e. your secular uncle next Thanksgiving) or stand before your own "Lame Man" you will do so with the clarity, boldness, and spiritual authority of the early church.
The goal is not merely to "share your faith." The goal is to create a Crisis of Verdict in the hearts of those who hear you, trusting that the same Holy Spirit who empowered Peter and Paul is the active Administrator of your mission today.
How to Use This Section
This navigation area that follows is divided into specific Engagements. Each lesson follows a rigorous three-part structure designed to move you from theory to deployment:
The Cultural Discernment: We analyze the 1st-century landscape and show you the exact parallel in your 21st-century world.
The Tactical "How" & "Why": We break down the specific moves (Pivots, Anchors, and Deflections) used by the Apostles and explain the logic behind them.
The Workbook: You will be given scenarios and prompts to help you draft your own responses and hone your discernment.
The Practice Lab:

For a Tailored Presentation: (example) "Now, take that detailed investigative answer and summarize it into three key talking points to use in a conversation with a secular friend or relative."
For an Elevator Pitch: (example) "Convert this research into a concise, 60-second 'Elevator Pitch' that focuses on (for instance) the '3rd Hour Defense' and why biblical faith is based on objective truth rather than internal feelings.
